Okeleke Uka John

Okeleke Uka John is a Transport and Logistics professional, maritime operations expert, and Lecturer in the Department of Maritime Transport and Business Management (MTBM) at the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology (FCFMT), Lagos. He currently serves as the Head of the MTBM Department.

With over 20 years of professional experience spanning logistics, shipping, clearing and forwarding, transport management, marine operations, and academia, he has held senior positions including Logistics Manager, Transport Manager, and Marine Supervisor. His industry experience covers inventory management, haulage operations, vessel operations, cargo management, and maritime logistics.

He holds a B.Sc., PGD, and two Master’s degrees in Transport and Logistics, in addition to professional maritime qualifications and certifications. His areas of expertise include the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, International Safety Management (ISM) Code, Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW), Cabotage Act, route planning, crew management, dispute resolution, and business development.

His research interests include maritime logistics, port operations, transport management, maritime safety, and accident prevention. He has published research works in these areas and is a member of professional bodies including the Association of Chartered Institute of Shipping (ACIS) and the Centre for Marine Survey Nigeria.

He is committed to bridging industry practice and academic research to promote safety, efficiency, and sustainable development in transport and maritime systems.
