The Department of Maritime Transport and Business Management was established in 2011 to run the Maritime Technology Management programme with specializations in Maritime Safety, Maritime Environment and Maritime Technology at National Diploma Level.

The name of the Department and the programme was changed to Maritime Transport and Business Studies in 2014. The Department commenced Higher National Diploma programme in 2016. However, in 2018 the name of the Department changed from Maritime Transport and Business Studies to Maritime Transport and Business Management offering Maritime Transport and Business Studies at National Diploma level and Maritime Transport and Business Management at Higher National Diploma level.
